Carnival of the Recipes #41

The Carnival of the Recipes is in full swing and we have a lot of interesting and yummy recipes for this week’s edition. It is becoming fruit season and there are a lot of ways to use them this week.

Let’s start with a little ambiance. Bebere.com brings us a recipe to make our own perfume. It sounds easy to make and this will help set the mood for the rest of the carnival.

Breakfast
We have two coffee cakes for our morning selections. Everything And Nothing brings us Granite Steps Country Blueberry Coffee Cake. You can’t go wrong if you start with biscuits dipped in butter and brown sugar and sugar.

With a name like Chocolate Chip Cream Cheese Coffee Cake you wonder if you can gain weight just by reading a title. Thanks to Morning Coffee & Afternoon Tea for submitting this cake which could probably eaten as a dessert as well.

Drinks
Blog d’Elisson brings us his version of a Sazerac Cocktail. This drink is a souvenir from his time in N’Awlins.

Now that it is summer time, it’s a great time for smoothies. Bobo Blogger brings us a refreshing Melon Smoothie. With only 3 ingredients you can’t say it’s too hard to try, so go do it.

Soups and Salads
Aussie Wife brings us a healthy Creamy Cauliflower Soup. Even her husband who doesn’t like cauliflower enjoys this soup. I bet you will, too.

Grandmothers are always good cooks and The Glittering Eye shares his grandmother’s Potato Salad. It has bacon in it and doesn’t everything taste better with bacon?

Roasted Broccoli Salad is a new take on broccoli as a side salad and with balsamic vinegar and garlic, it sounds divine. This recipe is brought to us by Accidental Verbosity.

For our hardcore salad eaters, third world county brings us Mocking Wussie Waldorf Salads Salad. It’s chock full of cabbage, walnuts, celery, and raisins.

Another salad full of goodies is California Walnut, Turkey and Rice Salad. This tasty recipe from The Common Room not only has a little spice, but a little sweet from pineapple and oranges, as well. It sounds like a whole meal in one dish.

PractiGal shares with us a recipe for Curried Lentil Soup. This is a favorite dish of PractiGal and it sounds delicious. With curry powder, fresh basil, and tomatoes, it’s definitely worth a try.

What Not To Do In Asia gives us a play-by-play picture-by-picture description of his creation Super Ramyon. Sounds very interesting.

Sides & Miscellaneous
One Happy Dog Speaks brings us another useful dish for the summertime. It’s a dip for fruits, and this is the perfect time to try it with this being the season for all kinds of yummy fruits. This is another easy recipe with only 2 ingredients, plus your fruit.

Meeting Ozarkland gives us quick instructions and detailed instructions for making Easy Siesta Snacks. No matter what your cooking skill you should be able to make this tasty dish.

I’ve never made challah before but with me-ander’s challah recipe, I think I could do it. It doesn’t have a whole lot of ingredients, but the directions are straight-forward and easy to follow.

Main Dishes
The best ribs you will ever eat is claimed by Trub. This recipe uses Essence of Emeril so you know it will be tasty. Make sure you have plenty of napkins.

From carrots and cauliflower to plum tomatoes and pinto beans, Inside Allen’s Mind brings us Vegetarian Chili. Vegetables are good for us and these sound delicious.

Shrimp and Grits is a popular dish in the south, and is entered in honor of John Wayne’s birthday. Thanks to Eat Your History for sharing.

With an elegant name such as Chicken Breasts with Portabella and Blue Cheese Sauce, doesn’t that make you want to have some friends over and try this dish from Quite Early One Morning.

Here’s another chicken recipe courtesy of Memento Moron. Inside Out Grilled Chicken Sorta Blue is another great summer dish because you get to use your grill.

Resistance is Futile brings us a beef dish for grilling. Fiesta Flank Steak & Rice is not difficult or lengthy. Just remember to marinate a day or two in advance.

Pagach, or Russian pizza, is a very versatile dish and is brought to us by Techno Gypsy. It’s great for savory or sweet fillings. Sounds yummy.

Aeryk shares with an original recipe of Cocoa Chile Rubbed Filet Mignon, with two side dishes of Red Potato Creamers and Baked Mushrooms and Broccoli in Butter Rum Sauce. The filet seems to be of Mexican flair since it has cocoa powder and chile powder.

Dessert (my favorite)
Like News But Tasty brings us three dessert recipes: Calder Cookies, Jackson Pollock Cake, and Raspberry Sauce. I just don’t which one to make first.

Almond Orange Cake is brought to us by Triticale-the wheat/rye guy and even has a matching almond orange glaze.

Strawberries, strawberries, and more strawberries. Booklore shares her Strawberry Tarts, Tarts, and Pie recipes along with Strawberry Shortcake and Belgian Waffles. Mmm, I am so glad it is strawberry season. She even has pictures!

If you like Flan, Sun Comprehending Glass has a recipe for you. She even says it’s easy to make. I may have to take her up on her claim.

Easy on Mom Cookies sounds like the recipe for me and is shared by ArmyWifeToddlerMom. Even if you’re not a mom, these cookies will be fun to make.

Life’s Better Ideas gives us another great recipe for summer called Fruit Ice. You’ll need to make this one in advance.

It’s always a good idea to have a couple of recipes for people who have diet restrictions and Let’s Play Restaurant brings us Tollhouse Cookies for a Diabetic. You don’t even have to be diabetic to enjoy these.

Merri Musings gives us her delightful version of Berry Pie. She uses strawberries, but you might be able to use any berry you would like. I’m sure she wouldn’t mind.

Our last recipe is called Summer Strawberry Madness and is shared by bunny? It sounds rather decadent especially since it has Mascarpone cheese. Another perfect recipe for summer.
