Sweet words

Tuesday, December 28th, 2004

Flash said this to me a couple of weeks ago: “You’re a sweet girl…like a pineapple.”

She’s a sweet girl.

Christmas morning

Monday, December 27th, 2004

Christmas morning was a lot of fun, for all of us. Flash slept in until 7:40. Pinwheels and I couldn’t stand it much longer so I woke Peanut up at 8:00. We all had a great time opening presents. We even managed to get the kids gifts they actually play with [...]

Oh, the horror!

Monday, December 27th, 2004

I ran out of Cascade for my dishwasher! Okay. Breathe in, breathe out. It will be okay. The commissary will be open tomorrow.

Thank goodness.

Go. You know you want to.

Merry Christmas!

Sunday, December 26th, 2004

We’re winding down from a very happy Christmas day here at the Pinwheels house. As you begin your Christmas day, I hope you have a happy day as well.

I hope as you celebrate this day you will stop and remember the true meaning of Christmas: the birth of God’s son, Jesus Christ.

Merry Christmas [...]

Pumpkin Cookies

Monday, December 20th, 2004

Alright. I have missed the last couple of Carnival of the Recipes due to procrastination. Well, not this time. I don’t know if we have a Carnival this week because of Christmas, and even if we don’t I’ll be early no matter what. Yay for me!

Pumpkin Cookies (given to me by [...]

No snow

Monday, December 20th, 2004

We were listening to Christmas music today and Lena Horne came on with “Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!”

Flash: Mom, she’s singing about snow again. There’s no snow on guam! said with exasperation

She’s one smart kid.

Carnival of the Recipes #18

Sunday, December 19th, 2004

Carnival of the Recipes #18 is here and is being hosted by my very own blogmama Sarahk. I, as usual, waited until the last minute to even think of a recipe and therefore, forgot to post and missed the deadline. Hmm, could that be the reason I haven’t heard from her in a [...]

My day at the spa

Sunday, December 19th, 2004

Pinwheels and the kids took me to the spa for my spoiling. When we arrived at the spa, we were all given some kind of iced tea which was delicious. While they were setting up the room, I got to finish picking out the specifics within each treatment. For example, I had [...]

Peanut’s Day

Sunday, December 19th, 2004

Today is Peanut’s birthday. It’s hard to believe he is now a three year old. I wish I knew where the last three years went. When he was born, I was happy he was finally here, but I really had no idea how to deal with a little boy. I have [...]

Girlie day

Saturday, December 18th, 2004

I’m on my way to the spa. I’m getting a massage, a body wrap (not sure about that one just yet), and a facial. I’ll tell you all about it later. Ta!

Flash and her friend

Friday, December 17th, 2004

Flash has a lot of friends in her class, but apparently one little girl, C, has decided she really likes Flash. I found out after the kids went into school on Wednesday her friend was getting quite worked up when we were a little later than usual. Her mom was so confused by [...]

It’s a special day

Thursday, December 16th, 2004

I’ve been married 9 years, today. Well, today for me, anyway. 9 years ago on December 16th, Pinwheels and I tied the knot. Sometimes, it’s hard to believe we’ve been married this long and other times it seems like much longer. Either way, we’ve had our ups and downs, but I [...]

A note for future reference

Thursday, December 16th, 2004

1. Don’t buy a lot of Christmas wrapping paper on sale or you will be looking at that paper for MANY years to come.

Field Trip!

Thursday, December 16th, 2004

Today Pinwheels and I helped chaperone the afternoon preschool’s field trip to the commissary. Flash has been to the commissary many times, but it’s completely different when you get to go with your friends. We had a guide (I think he was the manager) talk to us when we got there [...]

Celebrity do-it-alls

Sunday, December 12th, 2004

Is anyone else tired of celebrities having to do everything? It seems like every time I turn around another actor is becoming a singer, or a singer is becoming an actor, or an actor designs his/her own clothing line, a perfume fragrance, skin care, etc. A person can’t be good at everything, can [...]

Carnival of the Recipes #17

Sunday, December 12th, 2004

I am a 2 days late, but better late than never, right? Carnival of the Recipes #17 is up over at Marybeth’s. I haven’t had a chance to get a good look, but I know she has lots of delicious recipes.

Update: How about Baked Sweet and Sour Chicken, Beef Medallions in a [...]

I hab a code

Friday, December 10th, 2004

In English: I have a cold, and I am miserable. Thankfully, it is Friday and I will have Pinwheels around the rest of the weekend to help me. I’m planning on going to bed soon after we put the kids to bed. My eyes hurt, my nose is congested, but at [...]

Perusing

Wednesday, December 8th, 2004

Last week when I was working on Carnival of the Recipes #16 I noticed a lot of new people entering their recipes. I’m hoping to check them out a little more thoroughly in the days to come. Maybe I’ll find some “fresh flowers” for my blogroll. Even with the little correspondence by [...]

Almost done

Wednesday, December 8th, 2004

Christmas is in 17 days and I’m almost done with my shopping. Being so far away from our families during the holidays made me nervous at first because of the time it takes to mail packages between Guam and the states. Here’s a note for reference: It takes a letter 2 weeks [...]

The Italian Job

Monday, December 6th, 2004

Left Ear: This dude got dogs. I don’t do dogs. I had a…real bad experience, man.
Charlie : What happened?
Left Ear: I HAD a bad experience. D**n it. I’M deaf.

That’s probably my favorite scene from The Italian Job. I’m watching it right now. Not too bad [...]

Learning is good…most of the time

Monday, December 6th, 2004

After dinner tonight, Flash wanted an apple. Because of time constraints, I told her no. When Pinwheels enforced my decision, Flash started to “cry.” You know how kids are – they can cry at will. We then informed her if she cried she couldn’t have it later, either. It took [...]

We made nachos

Monday, December 6th, 2004

On Saturday we made Lisa’s Chicken Nachos from Carnival of the Recipes #16 . We used Cheddar instead of Monterey Jack so we wouldn’t have to go shopping. They were fantastic, even with different cheese. We didn’t have a single chip left when we were done. Thanks, Lisa!

Carnival of the Recipes #16

Saturday, December 4th, 2004

The Carnival of the Recipes is here! I had to be careful not to drool on my laptop from all the yummy sounding recipes. I’m going to just jump right in.

Let’s start with a drink. Ith at Absinthe & Cookies brings us her very own drink creation, Pilgrim on the Beach. [...]

What would you do…

Friday, December 3rd, 2004

if you received this email?

Pinwheels,

I really need you to stop by the furniture mart or self-help to rent a carpet cleaner. Let me just say – you don’t want to know.

I spent parts of Thursday trying to get toothpaste out of the carpet. The silver lining? The toothpaste mess is in the [...]

Artichoke Dip

Friday, December 3rd, 2004

I got this delicious recipe from a former neighbor, Carol Furst. It’s more of a cheesy dip than a creamy dip, but it is still wonderful.

You can make it as smooth or as chunky as you like when you chop your artichokes. Here is her recipe and my modifications. Enjoy!

Artichoke Dip
1-2 cans [...]
