Thanks Giving

Saturday, December 8th, 2007

This is a little story written by Flash, age 7. Spelling and grammar is as she wrote it.
Thanks Giving
Just as everyone sat adown at the table for thanks giving dinner, the turkey talked like a cowbow and said my name is Bretty! Then he jumped on Tori’s head and said Bobby is crazy! [...]

The light at the end of the tunnel

Thursday, January 11th, 2007

Pinwheels has less than 3 weeks to go in the desert. 4 months is a long time and it’s almost over. Yay!

Peanut asked me every day for a week after Christmas if we were getting Daddy the following day. We finally made paper chains so we can keep track of the days [...]

I didn’t know

Saturday, December 30th, 2006

Peanut brought me two pieces of race car track today because he was having trouble snapping them together.  His belief?

“These things hate me.”

LOL.  Oh, the drama of a 5 year old.

How cute

Monday, December 18th, 2006

Peanut just giggled in his sleep.  It wasn’t very long but it was cute.  Makes me wonder what he’s dreaming about.  When we pray with him at bedtime we always pray for happy dreams and he likes for us to be specific.  Tonight’s request was for looking at Christmas lights (which we did this evening), [...]

Cause…and effect?

Saturday, December 2nd, 2006

This morning Flash was telling me all about the toys she wants for Christmas, and there were a lot of them. I told her that she would not be getting all of the things she was talking about and she wanted to know why.

Mom: Flash, we are not getting you all of those [...]

My life

Tuesday, November 14th, 2006

Sorry for the nonexistent posting. You know it’s bad when your deployed spouse is blogging intermittently and it’s more blogging than you do. So, I will try to do better.

The last 2 weeks we have been sick. The kids got sick first and then I got sick. Well, I started to [...]

Great birthday idea

In June the kids and I traveled to Kansas for my nephew’s first birthday. The invitation read like this:
You’re invited to a sheep party

In honor of J’s favorite word

(It’s what a sheep says)

In case you haven’t heard

Please come to J’s

1st Birthday Baaaaaash!!

Grazing begins @5pm on June *

At the H pasture

It’s all about the love

Friday, September 29th, 2006

Heard at our house yesterday after another discussion where Flash was right and Mommy was wrong (according to Flash).

Mommy:  Nothing I say is ever right with you.

Flash:  (patting my arm and with a sweet voice)  But I still love you.

Something I would never expect to hear

Saturday, September 23rd, 2006

Peanut: Nona, can I have goat milk?

And then? He drank it. lol Who knew?

You don’t say

Thursday, September 21st, 2006

According to Peanut, “If you don’t eat you will shrink into a skeleton.”

True. It just takes a very long time.  I just found out he heard it on a video he was watching.  I thought he had come up with it on his own.  It’s still cute.

Party at Michael’s

Saturday, September 16th, 2006

Michael’s the store, that is. Flash attended a birthday party today and it was held at Michael’s. I was surprised but realized it was a pretty neat idea. They made a craft and had cake. They made a gumball machine look-alike. The kids painted a ceramic flower pot including a [...]

First day…sorta

Tuesday, August 22nd, 2006

The first day of first grade was today. Technically. Flash got on the bus at 7:55 and was back home by 11:00am. The school day was actually less than 2 1/2 hours. Just enough time to give the teacher all the supplies, get an overview of the teacher and class and [...]

It’s that time of year

Sunday, August 20th, 2006

School starts next week. It’s a little hard to believe it’s already the third week of August and time for school and yet, here it is. We had a lot of fun this summer but the kids are looking forward to going to school.

Flash begins school on Tuesday with a two hour block. [...]

“It’s raining ice cubes!”

Thursday, May 25th, 2006

This was one of Peanut’s comments today when we had a hailstorm during a thunderstorm. The hail was almost golf-ball sized. His first thought was that it was snowing but soon switched to ice cubes.

How cute.

A fun weekend

Friday, December 9th, 2005

We had an early birthday party for Peanut last weekend. He turns 4 while we’re in New Zealand so we had a bouncy castle and two families over for a fun afternoon. The night before the party we had our family dinner of waffles (chosen by Peanut) and Peanut opened all of his [...]

All I want for Christmas…

Tuesday, November 29th, 2005

It looks like Flash might have her first loose tooth. It does not reallly wiggle but it does give ever so slightly. I’m thinking it might still be a couple of weeks before it actually falls out.

Flash is quite excited about her tooth. I am reminded of Calvin from Calvin and Hobbes. [...]

Please?

Sunday, November 27th, 2005

Yesterday we bought several outfits for winter for the mountains in New Zealand. Included in this was a sweatshirt for each child.

Flash got dressed this morning for church and then proceeded with this request.

Flash: “It’s going to be really, really cold in church. I’m gonna need a sweatshirt. Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease?”

She is correct [...]

This or that

Tuesday, November 1st, 2005

If your daughter picked the same 3 church dresses to wear over and over, would you put them away so she would have to pick one of her other dresses or would you just give up and put away the dresses she doesn’t wear?

Just one of the issues I have to deal with at my [...]

Interesting concept

Monday, October 17th, 2005

I got an email from an acquaintence yesterday and in among the subject matter a walking bus was mentioned. I thought it was interesting so I looked it up. A walking bus is when a 2 grown-ups walk along a selected route and pick up kids within walking distance to the school.

This can [...]

My turn

Thursday, September 22nd, 2005

We went out to dinner the other night. I thought the kids might sleep on the way home because it was a little past their bedtime. However, they did not. In fact, Flash talked for almost 10 straight minutes to her dad, telling him things and asking him about other things. [...]

Let’s make a deal

Friday, September 9th, 2005

Flash decided in the last few minutes before going into her classroom that she didn’t want to go to school today. I offered a deal: “If you go today, you don’t have to go tomorrow.” Hee hee. So she didn’t realize it was Friday and it was her last day anyway.

The [...]

It’s that time of year again

Tuesday, September 6th, 2005

This morning we met Flash’s kindergarten teacher and aide. They both seem very nice. Flash is extremely excited to be starting school. This morning she came in my room dressed and ready with backpack on. Too bad school doesn’t start until tomorrow.

This year she will go to school all day instead [...]

Like a fish

Tuesday, July 26th, 2005

The kids are still taking swimming lessons and they are really starting to take off in their progress. Sunday afternoon a friend and I took our 5 kids (my 2 and her 3 boys) to the pool. Flash finally got a chance to wear her goggles. Oh my goodness. Talk about [...]

I suppose it was bound to happen

Monday, July 4th, 2005

Yesterday, I put a bike lock on the refrigerator to keep my little angels out of it. We have a side-by-side which made locking the doors together rather easy. Now, I don’t have to worry about freezer pops or juice boxes wandering off by themselves. Can you imagine my sweet babies doing [...]

So cute

Tuesday, June 28th, 2005

I was putting laundry away today and Peanut climbed on my back. I carried him down the hallway as well as the clothes in my hands. As we walked he said, “I got you mommy” so I asked him what I “got.” His answer, referring to himself, “a monkey.”

Heard at our house

Tuesday, June 14th, 2005

Lately, when we park in a parking space Peanut will comment. He’ll say, “This is a good spot.”

Peanut pointed at something on the floor the other day and said, “That is way too funky.”

If you were a fly on the wall

Wednesday, May 18th, 2005

Heard at our house Sunday:
Flash: you (mommy)hold this (the dustpan) and i will sweep. (starts singing) doo doo doo doo doo, good deed award, doo doo doo.

Heard Monday after dressing up for preschool concert with Sunday dress, Sunday shoes, fingernail polish, and lipstick:
Flash: Looking good, flash.

I’m tired

Tuesday, May 17th, 2005

I had a lot of kids in my house today.

10:15-1130: 3 kids
11:45-1:50: 4 kids
2:10-3:45: 5 kids

I am tired and I did not get a lot of extra housework done today, but I was able to help out two friends. Tiring, but worth it.

Happy birthday Flash

Monday, May 9th, 2005

My little girl is 5 years old today. She came in the middle of the night after a long labor. I had always wanted a little girl and was thrilled when she was born. She was a full-term baby, but was small enough my mom and Pinwheels needed to go shopping for [...]

Little quotes from our house

Sunday, April 17th, 2005

Things Flash said at our house this week:

You’re the greatest mom I ever had.

I eat this all the time…sometimes.

How is your food going? (waits for Daddy’s answer) Yummy?
